Masa Kateb

Masa Kateb is an Advisor at Canada’s first national Refugee Advisory Network, where she advocates for meaningful inclusion of refugee leaders in policy and decision making processes that directly affect the lives of refugees.


As a Leadership & Growth Coach, Kateb is Managing Director and co-founding of Quantum Care, a Neuroscience-based & trauma-informed educational Coaching & Consultancy that supports individuals and organizations in embracing sustainable holistic health practices as part of daily life.


As a human rights activist and community organizer, Masa founded Awzan to build social bridges through developing intentional, inclusive and meaningful intercultural community events and activities to inspire the world to be a better place for all. She currently co-leads Awzan by weaving five impactful channels; Arts, Cultures, Education, Healthy Living and Spirituality.


Kateb is a National Committee Member with the Canadian National SOGIESC Guideline Project, Director-at-Large at Vancouver Pride Society, Board Director at the Playwrights Theatre Center in Vancouver, BC and an active volunteer at Collingwood Neighbourhood House, Vancouver, within their Community Development Department and Older Adults Health & Wellness Programs.


Kateb recently served as Manager of Projects with the refugee-led organization Jumpstart Refugee Talent, expanding operations to Canada’s West Coast while nationally advocating for the economic inclusion of refugees. She also managed Canada’s only National Mentorship Program for refugees. Prior to that, she worked in the international travel industry in Dubai for about five years, including as a Senior Marketing Executive for Hertz, overlooking the Middle East and Africa region. This follows early careers in journalism, as well as a 15-year career in team sports; professionally playing and coaching basketball in Syria.


In parallel for almost a decade, Kateb held several leadership roles as a volunteer in the United World Colleges National Committee System. Kateb is currently completing her studies of Purpose Business MBA, Neuroscience of Change Coaching Program and has a BA in Business Administration and Economics from Damascus University. She has been living on the traditional and unceded land of the Coast Salish peoples since her arrival in Canada as a refugee in April 2018. In her free time, Masa performs as a Syrian traditional storyteller (Hakawatieh).
